Breathe, Move, Release: Therapy for Stress Release

In a serene forest, a woman meditates as sunlight filters through the trees, creating a calming atmosphere.

You can’t think your way out of stress

Interpersonal conflicts, work issues, financial problems- the stream of life’s demands, pressures and unpredictability can lead to chronic stress that shadows your potential and cause emotional pain and overwhelm.

Mind Move Therapy specializes in Psychotherapy to address the mental, emotional and physical symptoms of chronic stress by healing the mind and the body so you have the internal capacity to move forward in life.

Which state may apply to you? ‘I am living in survival mode’, ‘I’m leading my life based on my emotions and how I feel’, ‘my mood is chronically negative, I’m overthinking things, I’m shutdown and not living my full potential’.

If you have chronic stress you may be burned out, noticing yourself getting sick, or have increased conflict in your relationships.

How Does Your Chronic Stress Effect You?

Physical: Do you have physical health symptoms like inflammation, muscle tension, acid reflux, gut issues or pain? Do you feel disconnected from your body?

Mental:  Do you have anxiety, depression or PTSD? Is your mind chronically stuck thinking of the past or future? Are able to be present, relaxed and calm?

Emotional:  Do you suffer from negative mood, overwhelm, negative reactions or have difficulty managing life’s demands?

Social: Are you burned out from your job? Are you avoiding or isolating? Are you avoiding or withdrawing?

Spiritual: Are you unable to embody your greatest self? Do you feel not seen or heard? Are you yearning or seeking more meaning from your life?

Clinical Director of Mind Move Therapy, Bridget Montgomery shares her personal story of being a single mom struggling with a mortgage to pay and limited social supports, who stayed at a toxic job for years without seeing a way out. Having complex trauma from childhood made managing intense stressors even harder. Bridget used her love of movement: exercise, running, sports, dance and yoga to cope with the grind of stressors, worry and anxiety. And it worked, to an extent. It was movement combined with psychotherapy that was the golden ticket. What took years to learn was how staying stuck at a toxic job was really a trauma response, which led to eventually transitioning careers, healing her body, beliefs about herself and mending important strained relationships.
